A member of the Rothschild family banking dynasty died this week in a massive house fire that consumed his Hollywood Hills home.
On Wednesday evening, firefighters arrived at the home on Lookout Mountain Avenue and extinguished the blaze in approximately half an hour at the “old, rickety” two-story hillside home, where eccentric billionaire William Rothschild was known to reside.
Investigators are probing the cause of the fire, as NBCLA reports LAFD told them, “William was found at the front door,” suggesting he may have died trying to escape.
“Given the fire damage, it’s kind of hard to determine how much of that was prior to the fire and how much of it is the building itself that has been demolished by the fire,” a firefighter told ABC7.
Residents of the community described the reclusive Rothschild, who LAFD confirmed lived a hoarder lifestyle, as a good neighbor and a classic car enthusiast, who owned numerous cars, including one previously owned by Frank Sinatra and one by Michael Jordan. […]
