Lawyers for first son Hunter Biden on Tuesday requested a sentencing delay in his federal gun case, over concerns that his sentencing would overlap with a civil case that takes place across the country.
Biden was convicted on three federal gun charges by a Delaware jury in June, in connection with the purchase of a gun in 2018. He is currently scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 13, but has requested the sentencing be delayed until later in the month or early December.
The first son’s lawyer Abbe Lowell told the judge overseeing the gun case that Lowell is expected to appear in court for a civil case in California on the day before the sentencing.
“Such a postponement will accommodate both counsel and those working with counsel to prepare the necessary pre-sentencing materials and memoranda, and to allow lead counsel to participate at the hearing,” Lowell wrote in his request. […]
